Power automate on personal account

Well this sucks...

To be honest, I followed the link to lookup more information, but I don't get it...

So, I won't be able anymore to trigger any flows based on my personal outlook.com account? And I won't be able anymore to update Microsoft To Do items that belong to my personal outlook.com account?

I wouldn't even mind paying a bit for it, but not being able to use it at all just sucks. I only just noticed this was already published June 27 2017...

What would help me.... I have a work account from my employer. I can create flows there. Can I still create flows there and have actions run on my personal accounts?

I highly disapprove of this change. Are there any plans on replacing this capability with anything in the future?

Why is it being taken away?

Automation is imperative and now I don't have any thing remotely close that can do what powerautomate did for me for personal use.

Thanks for coming back to me !

Here are your answers to your questions. Please let me know if you need any clarification !

Personal connectors do not depend on the plan you use, but on its integration in Power Automate. If I take Microsoft To-Do, in Power Automate you can create a flow with both the personal version of To-Do and the version linked to enterprise accounts.

For Azure billing, you can create alerts and follow everything cost-related in the "Cost Management + Billing" section of the Azure dashboard. However, you should not be billed if you're not using the Premium features of Power Automate.

After checking, it seems like you need a "@yourdomain.onmicrosoft.com" account to use the Power Apps developer plan (the aforementioned work email)

If you want to get this kind of email, you need to have a Microsoft 365 business account trial. You can do so here : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/b...

So, I tried just to go ahead with it.

I upgraded my free Azure account to a "pay as you go" I had to do this as I had already used up my free 30 days in an Azure training a few years ago. This concerns me somewhat as I am worried I will get invoiced a lot of money without notice. Will I get an E-mail or some sort of notification before getting invoiced?

Anyway.... I have an entra tenant and now I am stuck at this step: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/developer/create-developer-environment I cannot login using my outlook account. It needs a work or school account

    Hi Aymeric,

Yes, I do have some questions :)

It's not like I have a crazy ton of flows with a small business depending on it. I basically have two:

    • Extend events This forwards every event I create in my personal account to my work account, client account, Google account. That way it is keeping my work, client and private calendars in sync. Reason for inviting my Google account as well is so it is read to me when the morning routine of my home automation starts.
    • Untick tasks This unticks tasks on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

I think I can pretty easily shift the first one to my work account as it is not really tying into the personal account. So, for that one the trigger can be moved from my personal account to my work account.

The second one is a little bit harder. These are tasks that I have on Microsoft To Do on a personal account. Some tasks I want to untick every day, some every week and some every month. In order to do this I need to connect Microsoft Power Automate to a Microsoft To Do connector that is running on my personal account. And here lies the challenge: when setting up the flow in my work account, I cannot connect to the personal account using the Microsoft To Do connector due to security policies on my work account.

    And here come the questions:

    • When using the Power Apps development plan, can I use a connector that ties into a personal account?
    • When using the Power Apps development plan, what account do I use to sign into that? Will it be a new account that has the level of work or school account? Or will I be able to login to that using my personal account?

I hope you can answer these follow up questions.

By the way, I must say I do not really understand why this is taken away from personal accounts. It is mentioned to be because of security reasons, but these are all Microsoft accounts.... Can't it just be secured better? I would be willing to pay for it. I am currently already paying for Microsoft365 Family on a yearly basis.

Hello ! I'm Aymeric, an independent advisor, and I'm here to help !

You're right : starting June 30, 2025, personal Microsoft accounts won't be supported anymore in Power Automate.

    You have two options :

    • either you can use the Power Apps development plan to use Power Automate. You can learn more about this here : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platfor...
    • given the fact that you have a work account with Power Automate, you can try to import your personal Power Automate flows inside.

This can work, depending on the IT security policies your administrator has set up.

Learn how to export and import flows here : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automat...

Please let me know if you have any other question !
