Can Service Providers use Azure Stack HCI as an alternative to e.g VMWare/Nutanix etc to host multiple customers VMs?
In this scenario the service provider would use a datacenter SPLA license "on top" of Azure Stack HCI to license all guests VMs.

Hi @Hoster ,

Unfortunately, it is my understanding that SPLA licensing with AzS HCI is prohibited per the Online Service Terms (OST). Servers running Azure Stack HCI OS must be dedicated to a customer's internal use and be registered to that customer's valid Azure subscription.

So if a customer already has SPLA for their entire "guest environment", and currently running on vmware stack with all hosts on SPLA datacenter there is no migration way from vmware to Azure HCI?
SPLA is not only multi customer - several companies also use SPLA instead of EA etc.
Further SPLA can be used to license VMs in Azure bot not Azure stack HCI?

Hi @Hoster ,

Unfortunately, no, you cannot use SPLA for guest VMs in Azure Stack HCI. My understanding is that guests must be licensed via Standard or Datacenter licenses. We’re exploring options in this area at this time, but I don't have any additional details or timeline on this.

Hello, is there any update on this subject? We are an MSP in Mexico, we've been using VMWARE + SPLA to provide services for many years. We are looking to replace VMWARE, and sure Azure Stack HCI seems a good technology option, if only it is allowed for MSPs. It'd be a shame for other HCI vendor to get the business.
