I did not see this option to save my response for edit later in my Microsoft Form. How do I enable it? I do have the bookmark icon for filled form. So I believe I should have it but I did not see that option. Can anyone show me on how to enable it?

Hello Lee Wing Sum,

Thanks for your response! I truly appreciate your detailed explanations

According to your description, this feature might be disabled at the tenant level. Therefore, Admins can enable it via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center

Note: If you are user, please contact your IT admin to do

To allow responders to edit their response an Office 365 administrator must turn on the Allow responders to edit their responses setting from the Office 365 administration portal (https://admin.microsoft.com/).

Step 1: To so access the Settings\Org settings blade, then access the Services to edit the Forms settings and enable Allow responders to edit their responses

Step 2: Once done, new and existing Forms will have the option available under the Options for responses section (turned off by default).

Step 3: From the same location, Forms author can also enable the option to Allow receipt of responses after submission under the Response receipts option.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know the outcome (make sure you don't miss any steps). If you have any difficulties or need further clarifications, feel free to reach out, and we can further investigate the problem together.

Thanks for your patience and understanding so far. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Thank you Vivian for your help. I think the admin wanted to prevent students from modifying the results. I wanted to create a checklist using microsoft form and put the link in canvas. A checklist so that students can save and revisit later anytime when they complete any task in the checklist. anyway i think is not doable because after saved it will be in a different link already. Really appreaciate for your help:)

    Hi Vivian,

I am the form creator. I did not see the mentioned option 'Allow respondents to edit their responses after submitting' in my setting.

For testing, after I have submit the form, I did not see the option to save my response too.

    Dear Lee Wing Sum.

    Welcome to community!

Since you cannot find save my response for edit later in Microsoft Form, this can be due to:

    • The form creator did not enable "Allow respondents to edit responses."
    • The form is set to "One response per person" (prevents editing).
    • You are filling out an anonymous form (no tracking allowed).

Before giving you the best solution, could you please confirm these questions below to help me diagnose the issue more effectively:

    • Are You the Form Creator or a Respondent?
    • If possible, please kindly provide a screenshot to help us diagnose the issue more effectively?

For Form Creators (How to Enable "Save Responses for Later")

    • Open your form in Microsoft Forms.
    • Click on the "…" (More options) button in the top-right corner.
    • Select "Settings."
    • Under "Response options," look for:
    • "Allow respondents to edit their responses after submitting."
    • "Record name" (optional, if you want to track who is editing responses).
    • Save the settings.
    • Now, respondents will see an option to save their progress or edit their response later after submission.

For Respondents (How to Save/Edit Responses Later)

    • If the form creator has enabled the option, you should see:
    • While filling the form:
      • A "Save as draft" option (if the form allows partial responses).
    • After submitting:
      • A "Edit your response" link (if the form creator enabled it).
      • You may also receive an email with an edit link (if the form collects emails).
      • If you don’t see these options, the form owner has not enabled them.

    Workaround (If You're a Respondent)

    • Bookmark the form link before submitting (but this only works if the form allows multiple submissions).
    • Use the "Back" button in your browser before submitting to save progress.

    For more information:

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know the outcome (make sure you don't miss any steps). If you have any difficulties or need further clarifications, feel free to reach out, and we can further investigate the problem together.

Thanks for your patience and understanding so far. Looking forward to hearing from you.
