Microsoft Authenticator unknown errors.

I'm trying to sign into a group SharePoint drive and when I sign in it prompts me to open my Microsoft authenticator app and enter a two-digit number. I downloaded the Microsoft authenticator app to my phone and signed in with my work account. When signing into my work account I get four error messages all saying unknown error. These messages are for Passkey, Passwordless sign-in requests, Multifactor authentication, and One-time password codes. All four of these messages all say "Unknown error. Please try again later." I have tried again later I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and I have not been able to make any progress. I'm really not sure what to do at this point.

    Dear Anton Bokisch,

Good day to you! Thank you for reaching out regarding the issues you're experiencing with the Microsoft Authenticator app. Based on your description, it appears that you're encountering "Unknown error" messages across multiple authentication methods, including Passkey, Passwordless sign-in, Multifactor Authentication (MFA), and One-Time Password (OTP) codes.

To help resolve this, please try the following steps:

    1. Ensure the App and Device Are Up to Date
      • Confirm that the Microsoft Authenticator app is updated to the latest version via your device’s app store.
      • Make sure your device’s operating system is also up to date.
    2. Check Device Settings
      • Set your device’s date and time to automatic.
      • Disable any battery optimization or power-saving settings for the Authenticator app.
      • Ensure that notifications are enabled for the app.
      • If you are using a VPN, try disabling it temporarily.
    3. Re-register the Device
      • Open the Authenticator app, go to Settings, and look for Device Registration.
      • If your device is already registered, try removing and re-registering it.
    4. Try a Different Network
      • Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to rule out network-related issues.
    5. Check for Work Profile Restrictions
      • If your device uses a work profile or is managed by your organization, ensure that biometric or PIN authentication is enabled for that profile.

If the issue persists after completing these steps, we recommend contacting your IT administrator to verify that your account is properly configured for authentication. There may be a policy or configuration issue on the backend that requires administrative attention.

Please let us know if you need further assistance. We're here to help.

    Best regards,
