Add a Custom domain name with Office 365 Personal

Question

Hello all

I have an M365 personal subscription and wish to add my own custom domain to it. This is very easy to do in business subscriptions. One goes to admin->settings->domain and then adds the domain there and as a techie I have done it hundreds of times.

But I cannot find this option anywhere in the personal subscription. I just want to add my one domain and use one mailbox. I do not need business or family.

if I login to office.com and go to outlook, I see I have a generic outlook_******@outlook.com address.

Can someone please tell me how to do this?

Well, there's another way and it's quite easy. I use it myself. The registrar of my domain offers email service. I've configured that mailbox to forward all the mail to my Outlook.com mailbox. I've also added my personal domain address as an alias to my Outlook.com mailbox so I can send mail from the alias address. I've set the default from address to be by personal address. I've never had any trouble with this arrangement.

https://account.live.com/names/manage is where you add aliases.

I think I am missing something here. I do not even get the option to add alias. When I click on the diamond, I get the below screen. should I be elsewhere?

Hi Brian

Thank you very much for your reply. The problem is the option is not there. When I click on "Manage Premium" (little diamond symbol), there is no "Personalized Email Address" option. The settings window pops up with Account, Files, General, Email, etc... options and none of those have the "Personalized Email Address" option.

I suppose this means the work around will no longer work. Right? Already bought and paid for one year for my friend for whom I am setting this up. EVERYWHERE I read said this is possible. Typical Microsoft!!
