Hi Sachin,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

The Think deeper feature used o1 model initially, now I think it uses O3. Microsoft, as of now, has no limits on Think Deeper feature for free users, mentioned here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copil...

Today we’re excited to start rolling out even more powerful capabilities to all Copilot users with free, unlimited access to Voice and Think Deeper (powered by OpenAI’s o1 model).

I hope you find this information useful. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, please take a moment to rate the thread. Wishing you good luck!

Hello,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community. Thank you for your use and interest in Microsoft Copilot.

There are no restrictions on using Think Deeper in Copilot, but Copilot Pro users have priority access over free users when capacity is limited, meaning that paid users will get a more consistent response during peak hours.

Conversation Modes: Quick, Think Deeper, Deep Research - Microsoft Support

To my personal knowledge, Copilot uses the following models:

  • The base model should be a customized version of the GPT-4
  • Multimodal capabilities (e.g. image generation) are based on OpenAI's DALL-E 3.
  • Think Deeper is powered by OpenAI's o3-mini model.

As for the models used in Copilot and future development plans, this information is typically managed directly by internal Microsoft teams, and details are not available to community support staff at this time. We understand your curiosity, but decisions involving technology routes and partnerships are at the company's strategic level and are not publicly detailed at this time. Thank you for your understanding!

Best regards,
