Authenticator App not allowing Push notifications on Oppo phone

Hi,

I have been troubleshooting this for a few days with no success.

I have just started a new job this week that requires two factor authentication in order to log into their VPN.

I have downloaded the Microsoft Authenticator App and tried to set this up however I am getting the following error message:

"Push notification registration failed. We couldn't register for push notifications."

I have done some digging and I believe it might be something to do with my phone: Oppo Find X2 Pro. From what I gather, the phone company suppresses non essential notifications in order to maximise battery life. I have made sure notifications are all enabled and that the app ignores any battery optimisation.

I have also spoken to Oppo support who just got me to reset my settings to factory default which didn't help as well as clearing the cache.

I can't login to do anything and our IT department is stumped as well.

I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue before (I have searched and it appears some have but no solutions have worked for me)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris
