Remote desktop - Client sound via host speakers?

I think I previously had the sound from the client PC playing via the speakers of the host PC I was connecting to (via remote desktop). In 'Sound devices' the client PC actually ended up with a device named after the host PC. So I'd play Spotify on the client (or watch a YouTube video, do a Zoom call etc) and if it was RD'd to the host I could choose to have its sound play through the host's speakers.

This stopped working, and I can't in fact get any sound out of the host PC via remote desktop at all now. So even with 'Play on remote computer' selected in the connection's options, if I connect to the host and fire up Spotify or whatever I can't get any sound of it. If I just login to the machine directly (not remote desktop) sound is fine.

Should I be able to get the client-sound-via-host-speakers scenario to work?!
