IPv6 support on Application Gateway feature is being actively worked upon by the team and is expected to go GA by September 2023.

The reason is that our government in The Netherlands demands IPv6:

Also requesting an ETA on this feature. We also have large US government customers who are now requiring IPv6-only reachability in their RFPs. Front Door is not a solution for this, as the cost is outrageous for the traffic level we have but our content mostly dynamic and not cacheable. Your largest competitors can offer us IPv6 on basically every service these days.

Hi there, Last information I've seen is indicating the feature should have been planned in calendar year 2022. It now is 2023 and I would really like to know if we can expect this functionality anytime soon.

Hello @Vijay Boedhram , Thank you for reaching out. Yes support for IPv6 on Application Gateway is currently in the roadmap. Can you please explain more on regarding your use case in this scenario like what you want to accomplish using IPv6 in AG? so that I can pass this along to the team and see if any exact date is decided for this feature.

We are running web applications on windows vm’s in Azure. Internet traffic goed through the application gateway to these vm’s.
What our customer wants is that the application gateway is reachable at an IPv6 (which they can pinpoint to from their own DNS).

Currently there is no exact ETA on support for IPv6 support on Application Gateway and It will be taken up in next calendar year’s planning cycle. Also waiting for this feature. Main point is external connectivity over IPv6 (from internet to AG). Internal would be nice but over v4 is for our use case not that important.
