Hi there,

I create a site page for other purpose. the page haven't published and the status is checked out. When I search the page name, I found the page was found and listed in the search result page. Normally I think the page should NOT be listed out due to the status is checked out and unpublished. so how should I adjust this.?

The result should be unpublished page should NOT be shown in the result page.

thanks

    @Yi Lu_MSFT

    Thanks for your reply. As you mentioned, the document has been crawled and indexed before so the unpublished page will be still shown in the search result page. My question is if we have any workaround to handle this? Because we will modify the any pages any time and it might be impossible to publish the page immediately. based on this scenario, does you have any solution or suggestions on it.?? thanks

    Hi @SHUO .H
    Per my test, I create two pages, one is published and the other one is unpublished.

    Please note that the "Unpublish" page has not been published since it was created, and then run a full crawl:

    Normally, after the crawl complete, I could search for the published page successfully, however the unpublished page will not be crawled and searched.

    So for your issue, you could check the version history of the page to see if the page has been published before, if it has been crawled before, the page will be searched even if you edit the page later without publishing it.

    few questions:

    • does it show previously published version in the search or it shows current version of the page?
    • did you try to run full crawl?
    • is it possible that account which is used for search crawl has some extra admin permissions? (so this account can access unpublished pages from UI)
