Sendkeys does not seem to work with combobox

My combo is on a UserForm in an Excel Add-in.

I have a combobox which opens when you click on a button (option button)
I can then click on an item in the combo’s drop-down list.

This is what happens next.
The clicked item goes into the combo.

But, contrary to normal combos, the drop-down list does not disappear.
This is by design. I use a combo selection change event. So, anything typed in the combo will trigger the drop-down list to pop up.

However, the drop-down list is rather annoying (it distracts the attention of users). I would rather want it to disappear as in normal combo boxes, like this:

My code is already too complicated for an amateur; I don’t want to add more codes.

So, I am trying to find if I could make the drop-down list (with only 1 row) disappear by using Sendkeys.

By manually playing with my keyboard, I can make the drop-down list disappear with any of the following keys:
ENTER, ESCAPE, TAB, UP, DOWN. Yes, all these keys work manually. Even clicking the combo text with mouse will make the drop-down list disappear.

But when I do it in code using:
Application.Sendkeys(“{ENTER}”), etc. … it does not make the drop-down list disappear.

Can anybody help?
