Unable to print range of pages with the field NUMPAGES used inside the document

Hello,
the function to show total number of pages with the latest updates of MS Word 365 and when using printing a certain range of pages stopped working.
This behaviour is observable on any freshly installed computer with freshly installed MS Word 365 with the latest updates.

This behaviour is very specific and it always fails when the document contains:

3 pages
print range of pages "1-2"
filed "NUMPAGES" or other method of counting total number of pages

It is not working with other settings as well (for example 5 pages and different range) but this is a good example to replicate.
For our testing purposes we are using Microsoft print to PDF as a testing printer.

It was working just fine with the April build.

Is there any workaround or a patch in foreseeable future?

Thanx in advance.

    @Adam Dunas

Please check whether the version of your Microsoft 365 apps is "Version 2108 (Build 14326.20348)".

It's recommended to ensure that you have tick the box of "Update fields before printing" via going to File > Options > Dispaly.

On my environment with Microsoft 365 apps, if I tick the box of it, I could print specific pages as PDF files. Please check the details images below.

    • I insert NUMPAGES field in Word docuemnt.

    • Then I print page 2 and page 3 as a PDF file.

    • The PDF file is indeed the second and third page.

    Hello, thanx for the reply.
And indeed that checkbox did the trick!

I spent too much time trying to fix this. Thank you once again.

There is currently a known issue with printing page ranges in Word. The issue has been filed as a bug and it is being investigated by Microsoft.
