Since about three weeks the following problem has occured in our Microsoft Teams: Active users within our tenant appear in Microsoft Teams as "unkown user". This happens in the teams members list as well as in the activity feed. Clicking on such an user an starting a private chat shows the correct name. What's the reason for this behaviour and how can we fix it?

Do you have the same issue in Teams web client?
Does anyone else have the same issue in your organization?
If there is no issue in Teams web client, we assumed this issue is related to Teams client. In this case, it firstly recommend you try to reset users status to see if it works.
Yes, the same issue appears in the web client. Other employees have the issue as well and no certain pattern can be seen. The problem comes up on different machines with a different extend. At one time on one machine only some users are named "unkown", but on an other more or other users. Yesterday my complete activity feed was filled with actions of unkown users. Today the same machine displayed the names correctly.
Can they see other user's status normally if they click "Reset status"?
It has been a while, how is everything going?

Thank you for reminding me. We have managed to solve the issue. It was related to the deactivated Setting "UsersPermissionToReadOtherUserEnabled" in our tenant Settings. We activated it via PowerShell and all usernames appeared correctly.

We have this setting enabled within out tenant and yet we're still having the issue above. any ideas?
