Can't get the Extended Security Update for Windows 10. How do I do it?

I am using a Dell Windows 10 laptop and tried unsuccessfully for many hours to get the Windows 10 Consumer Extended Security Update (ESU) on my laptop - to extend Windows' security updates until Oct. 13, 2026. Here is what I did. At Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update there was no link to enroll in ESU. That's supposedly where you enroll to get the ESU. On the home page for Settings, in the upper left of the screen, it shows I am logged in to my Microsoft account as the administrator. On the Windows Update page I updated Windows 10 version 22H2 to the latest version. I still cannot get the ESU "Enroll Now" choice to appear on the Windows Update page (in Settings) as it should according to a Microsoft document. Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can get the Enroll Now to appear on the Windows Update page so I can get Microsoft's Extended Security Update.

I found a solution this afternoon.

My PC is running 22H2 build 19045.6216

I have, this afternoon installed KB5063709

I am admin on a Microsoft login

I rebooted twice after the update and STILL I got the message “This PC doesn’t currently meet…” message instead of the “Enroll now” message when in Windows update.

After much googling I found the link below.

You need to enter about six commands in command prompt as administrator.

make sure your reading the web page on the PC you want to enable so you can cut and paste the lines straight in to CMD.

it worked like a charm for me.

Caution: If you make a mistake with your "registry" you can really mess up your computer. If not an IT professional, you may want to wait for MS to fix this problem?

The Extended Security Updates (ESU) program is being gradually rolled out to all eligible Windows 10 devices worldwide. It may be offered gradually across the globe. If your device meets all the requirements, the option will automatically appear in the Windows Update section of your computer.

This appears to work for me.

The Microsoft Store will NOT show this if you try to search for it. I tried every combination of words and phrases I could think of and it simply never appeared. But with this direct link, I was able to get there.

They offer a "Free Trial" (but with no explanation I can see of what exactly you get for the free trial and how long it lasts.)

You can also purchase is for $29.99 plus tax. The page shows no information about how you can use Microsoft Points to purchase the ESU. I have plenty of points and I'm logged into the store, but there's no option for using points - despite Microsoft's claims to the contrary. Maybe this option will appear when I get the ESU notice on my Updates screen. I'm going to wait a bit before spending the money.
