Hi Team,

I have a lot of groups listed under Groups in Outlook. I would like to know if there is a way to organize the groups by putting the most important at the top. I know we can add the group as favorites. But I would like to know if it is possible to sort/reorder O365 groups or if there is a workaround.

Thank you for your help.

    Hi @J-3804 ,

I would like to know if there is a way to organize the groups by putting the most important at the top.

Currently I am afraid there's no buit-in option available to manually reorder the Office 365 groups listed in Outlook. I tried to adjust the group position by dragging and dropping but it doesn't work either.

Given this situaiton, if adding the groups to Favorites is not an acceptable option (Folders in Favorites can be manually moved up or down to change the order.), considering that based on my test, it seems that the Office 365 groups in Outlook is sorted by the time you joined in, from newest to oldest, so if the important groups which you want to put at the top are public groups, in other words, you are able to leave or join the group freely, then as a workaround, you may consider leaving and rejoining the group so that the it will show up at the top:

    Leave a group in Outlook
    Join a group in Outlook

Originally Group2 is at the bottom of the list:

After leaving and rejoining the group, it shows up at the top:

    Hi there,

if this issue is still up to date:

there is a workaround - even if it doesn't seem to be possible to sort ONLY the Groups-Folder the way you want it, you can sort ALL folders in alphabetical order, which will include the Groups-Folder.

    1. Switch to the Inbox
    2. Choose "Folder >>> Show All Folders A to Z" from the Menu Pane (Re-order if it was already activated) (see posted image)
    3. You have to repeat this action everytime a group is addedoutlook_sort_groups

Worked for my company with Outlook 365 Version 2302 Build 16.0.16130.20298

P.S.: I expected a setting in Outlook 365 Web App would work, here it is possible to manage the Group Folder and to change the order, but unfortunately the setting is not kept and always switches back to "Recent Activity" -sad but true.

    Greetings Volker
