How can the Purview data map be configured to scan Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse tables at a more granular level, beyond just the item level metadata?

    Hi Dong Li,

Thanks for reaching out on Microsoft Q&A !

Yes granular level scan is available in Purview data mapUser's image

Register Fabric as a source in Purview

    • In Purview Studio > Data Map > Sources > Register > Microsoft Fabric (same tenant).
    • Authenticate with the service principal (client ID/secret or Key Vault).
    • Create & run the scan
    • In Purview Studio > Data Map > your Fabric source > New scan.

Choose scope (all workspaces or selected workspaces).

    • Set a schedule if desired.
    • Run the scan and watch Monitor

    Verify sub-item (table/column) results

After a successful scan, open Unified Catalog and browse your Lakehouse. You should now see tables with columns & data types (sub-item metadata) for Lakehouse tables/files.

Remember: sub-item metadata is preview and limited to Lakehous,sub-item lineage isn’t yet supported.
