Hello,

I believe that years ago, back in 2019 or 2020, I created an Azure account as part of a code Boot Camp. I didn't know what I was doing, and it went inactive. Now, I'm looking to build a hobby app and get familiar with Azure. However, I get this error:

Error message: AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity.

Can someone remove it, or figure out another way for me to sign into the Azure portal?

Thanks!

Hi, the AADSTS5000225 error means that your Microsoft Entra tenant has been blocked due to inactivity. If the block is recent, you can request reactivation within 20 days by contacting Microsoft Support (you'll need your tenant ID, timestamp, and request/correlation ID). After 20 days, the tenant is permanently deleted and can no longer be recovered. In your case (an account created in 2019/2020), you most likely need to simply create a new tenant: log in to the portal with your account, profile in the top right → "Change directory" → "Create tenant," then activate a new Pay-As-You-Go subscription. If your browser continues to point to the old tenant, use an incognito window or clear your cookies. For Azure DevOps, if necessary, you can create a new organization on dev.azure.com and link it to the new tenant.
