Which edition of W10 will be the final version?

Hi All,

I'm planning to refresh our custom Education edition Windows images soon and was originally planning to use the upcoming W11 release. However, we're now looking to stay with W10 for a bit longer. Microsoft say they will support W10 until October 2025, but what does this mean in practice? Is 21H1 now officially the final new edition of W10, with future updates just being security patches and quality improvements? In the MS documentation, there is no Enterprise or Education edition that says it's being supported for that long.

Thanks,

Tim

    Hi @Tim Butterworth ,

As far as I know Microsoft will continue to release Windows 10 builds just like previously until the retirement of Windows 10.

Feature updates for Windows 10 are released twice a year, around March and September, via the Semi-Annual Channel. They will be serviced with monthly quality updates for 18 or 30 months from the date of the release, depending on the lifecycle policy.

You can get sneak peaks of upcoming Windows 10 builds by joining the Windows Insider Program.
