Microsoft Authenticator passwords vanished

Question

Hey, all of my stored passwords in Microsoft Authenticator have vanished. What to do to get a copy of my passwords? I saw some notifications in the app about the autofill being removed but I was not aware that the passwords will be deleted.

I have checked here and see that other people have the same problem. The usual answer is: if you have backed up to the Cloud, they will be in Edge under Wallet/Password.

I did not back up my passwords to the cloud, as I was concerned about security. I have checked in Edge and almost all my passwords, including for banking, have disappeared. I have lost access to everything, as Authenticator was also where I stored usernames. I can't even ask for a simple password reset.

I have not changed anything in the Authenticator app: I have not reset it, or uninstalled it, or anything similar. The change was made at the Microsoft end. I definitely would have backed up my passwords if I had seen a message saying they were disappearing!

Is there a fix?? Please help!!!
