How do I create an New Outlook email for my own domain?

I also found this:

"first register a domain name, then sign up for a Microsoft 365 business or personal plan, and then add your domain to your Microsoft 365 account by verifying ownership and configuring the necessary DNS records."

I tried searching and found something about getting into my 365 account and going to Settings->Domains, however, under settings there is no Domains option.

I have a domain name and I have Microsoft 365.

    Dear Patrick McDaniel

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Community. I understand you're experiencing an issue. I am happy to assist you with that. Here is a clear approach to help you understand your options:

Step 1: Sign in to Microsoft 365 Admin Center

    • Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Sign in using your admin credentials.

    Step 2: Add Your Domain

    • In the left navigation, select Settings → Domains.
    • Click Add domain.
    • Enter your domain name (e.g., yourcompany.com) and click Next.

    Step 3: Verify Domain Ownership

    • If your domain registrar supports Domain Connect, sign in when prompted for automatic configuration.
    • Otherwise, choose Add a TXT record to the domain's DNS records, copy the TXT record provided, and add it to your domain registrar’s DNS settings.
    • After propagation (usually 10 minutes to 48 hours), click Verify.

    Step 4: Configure DNS Records

    • Add the required DNS records (MX, CNAME, TXT) shown in the setup wizard to your DNS host.
    • These records enable email routing and authentication.

Step 5: Assign Domain to Users

    • Go to Users → Active Users.
    • Select a user, then choose Manage username and email.
    • Change the email address to use your custom domain (e.g., ******@yourcompany.com).

    Step 6: Test Email

    • Send and receive test emails to confirm everything is working correctly.

    Important Notes

    • If you do not see the Domains option under Settings, you may be using a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family plan, which does not support custom domains. You will need a Microsoft 365 Business plan.
    • Ensure you have Global Admin permissions to perform these steps.

For more details, please refer to the official Microsoft documentation: Add a domain to Microsoft 365.

I hope these steps help you resolve the problem. If you require additional guidance, feel free to reply to this thread and I’ll be happy to assist you. While ago, there was an option to connect custom domain name to outlook.com (Personal Account). Now, you need Business subscription for that. I guess now you have Microsoft 365 Personal or Microsoft 365 Family? You can't use custom domain domain name with those personal subscriptions.

Personal subscription is for personal use and it's completely different system then Business subscription. So, for example, you buy Microsoft 365 Business Basic or Microsoft 365 Business Standard, you will be able to connect you own custom domain name.
