Environmental information:
DHCP SERVER: Not joined to the domain
AD DNS SERVER: Join domain
Fault:
When entering a domain user while dynamically updating credentials in DHCP, it keeps prompting that the user name and password are incorrect. Does the DHCP SERVER have to join the domain to dynamically update DNS records?

    Hi there,

The DHCP server never registers and updates client information with its configured DNS servers. To use this configuration, the DHCP server must be configured to disable the performance of DHCP/DNS proxied updates.

Is it necessary to join an AD domain?

No, it isn't a hard requirement. Some locations use the router's DHCP service.
