Built a brand new PC recently and it is fully compatible with Windows 11. I don't have a PC at home and only have an iMac. So the bootable USB was not created with the official media creation tool. Everything was working fine, but it tells me media driver missing after choosing the target drive. What is wrong with this case and how can I install from Windows 11 from USB without running the same issue again?

Creating a Windows 11 USB installation media on a Mac can be a straightforward process, but there are several common errors to watch out for to ensure a smooth installation. Here are the key errors to avoid when installing Windows 11 from USB drive:

Always get the official Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft's website to ensure compatibility and security.

Use Disk Utility to format the USB as ExFAT or MS-DOS (FAT) if needed, but ensure the bootable creation process supports it.

Ensure your Mac supports booting from USB in UEFI mode and that your Windows 11 ISO is UEFI-compatible.

Check and disable Secure Boot if necessary, or configure firmware settings to permit booting from external media.

The "Media Driver Missing" error occurred when you are going to install Windows 11 from USB drive. Possible Causes:

1.Incorrect or incomplete bootable USB creation:

Without using the official media creation tool, the USB might lack the proper boot files or driver support.

    2.Missing Storage Drivers:

Windows installer may not have the necessary drivers for your motherboard's storage controller (especially with newer NVMe SSDs or RAID configurations).

    3.UEFI/BIOS Settings:

Some BIOS settings (like CSM, Secure Boot, or SATA mode) can affect driver recognition during setup.

Solution: Using Terminal and dd, you can create a bootable Windows 11 USB on macOS, in this way, you are able to install Windows 11 from USB drive.

    Hi, good day!

The best thing to do in this situation is to perform a Clean Install of Windows 11. However, you will need to find another working Windows computer from a family member or friend near you to create the Windows 11 USB Installation media.

Find another working computer then download the Media Creation tool (Click Download tool now). Use the tool to "Create installation media (USB flash drive at least 8GB in size) to install Windows 11". Instructions inside the link.

Note: Please make sure to uncheck the "Use the recommended options for this PC" box. Please check the link below for more details.

Insert the USB Installation media into your computer. Please change the boot order in the Bios Settings. Boot your PC from the Installation Media you created.
