I upgraded My Rog Ally Z1 Extreame harddrive yesterday got windows back on it and my files then it just restarted but when it did it went into windows repair but I'm not able to go any further as I need to add BitLocker recovery key which I have on the Microsoft website, I have typed it in number by number (it has no letters in it) but it says that it's incorrect/invalid, the only other recovery key I have on the website is the previous harddrive. If I have to do a new windows then I would I just want my files backed up first. Someone please help.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

May I please know how you restored your files from the old hard drive to the new one after installing Windows? Were the files backed up to another drive?

If you already have a copy saved on another drive, you can go ahead and reinstall Windows, then restore the files from your backup.

If the BitLocker Recovery key ID you entered says 'Incorrect/invalid', check if the recovery key ID displayed in your PC matches the key ID displayed in your Microsoft account.

Take note of the first 8-digit recovery key. If the recovery key ID does not match, please check if the key is linked to another Microsoft account of yours. So, check all your accounts and see if the key is linked there.

If you are unable to locate the BitLocker Recovery key, a clean install will be the Only option here. Reinstalling Windows will delete all of your files from the HDD.

Let me know if you still need more help.
