I am asking this question on behalf of my mother who cannot login to her outlook account. She was recently overseas and couldnt remember her password so she changed it. however, now she is back in the country (Australia) it wont let her login to her account and we have tried recovery of the account and not recieving anything and tried getting verification code and just comes up with the message "Try another verification method - That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method." does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

    Laura,

I understand the importance of recovering your account here. However, note that this is a peer-to-peer support forum. Account or billing-related queries fall outside the scope of our community guidelines, as they usually require sharing personal information. Posting such details in a public forum poses security risks and violates Microsoft’s terms and conditions. For this reason, we can only offer general guidance on how to recover your account.

If there is an easier way to recover blocked Microsoft accounts, I would have recommended it earlier. If your Microsoft account recovery request was not granted or was unsuccessful, please click the attached link for more information:

    Laura,

Several users have experienced the same issue where the recovery email after filling out the recovery form does not arrive at their contact email address. Therefore, creating a new Microsoft account with the same information as the blocked one does not help, as Microsoft treats it only as a new account.

On one hand, you can continue trying the account recovery form to check if you are able to receive the recovery email. On the other hand, if that does not work, you may submit the Account Reinstatement form, which allows Microsoft to review the reason your account was disabled and determine if it can be restored.

    Hi,

You can use another active account in the 'Contact Email address' field to receive the recovery email from Microsoft. Keep trying the account recovery form again twice every 24 hours.

If you haven't received a response, use a different contact email address, check your junk or SPAM email folder, and add the Microsoft.com domain to your safe sender's list.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

The error "Try another verification method - That verification method isn't working right now. Please try another method." appears if your account is blocked for unusual activity or the problem might be with the specific verification method you are trying to use.

You can use an alternate Security verification method,

For e.g., if you have a recovery phone number or email address added to your account, and you're receiving this error when requesting the OTP from the Phone number option, use the email address option to receive the code.

You can also try connecting your device to a different Wi-Fi network, such as a Mobile network, and try requesting the Verification code. See if you can receive the code and reset your password.

If you are still having issues receiving the code, you may have to fill out the Account Recovery form -

    https://account.live.com/acsr

Remember to use a familiar device from which you've frequently accessed your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your responses and respond within 24 hours. If you are verified, instructions on how to log back into your account will be sent to you. If you are not verified, you will need to resubmit the Account Recovery form. You can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

Let me know if you still need more help.
