Hello,

I recently purchased a Lenovo laptop with pre-installed Windows 11 Home (version 24H2). I have attempted to disable Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) via the Registry Editor, but have not been successful.

Could you please assist me with this issue?

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Piyush

    Hello.

Access the UEFI BIOS. Disable the Intel or AMD CPU's virtualization support.

    Note

(Disabling the CPU's virtualization support will require you to reset your PIN on the sign-in screen. Make sure you can sign in with a password beforehand. Also, if your drive is encrypted with BitLocker or similar, disable encryption.)

Disabling these features will also hide the Windows Security Memory Integrity setting.

Now, check the status of Virtualization-Based Security with msinfo32. It should be listed as Running (Stopped).

    Open Registry Editor.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard

Set the value data of EnableVirtualizationBasedSecurity to 0 and restart Windows.

    Thank you.

If it affects game performance, disabling it is up to you; it may be a viable option, but otherwise, we recommend enabling virtualization-based security.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have disabled Memory Integrity, Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) is still running.

Yes, I have enabled auto update and run update for drivers/bios.

    Is this an issue?

    Thanks

    Piyush

Do you mean Windows security > Device Security > Memory Integrity?

If so have you run Lenovo Vantage update for drivers/bios, and NOT set "get latest" in win11 update settings?

Are you subscribed to a main stream brand AV/Security?
