Hello Paul, Thanks for reporting this. Don’t worry, I can guide you on how to fix this.

A red circle with a white cross means that a file or folder cannot be synced. You'll see this in File Explorer or on the OneDrive notification area icons. Check this ARTICLE to learn more.

Click the blue or white OneDrive icon in the notification area to learn more about the problem.

You can follow the steps outlined in this article: Fix OneDrive sync problems

Here’s what you can also try:

    1. Check the internet and the account

Make sure you are connected to the internet without interruptions.

Confirm you’re signed into OneDrive with the right account. Right-click the OneDrive icon in the taskbar > Settings > Account.

    1. Check storage space

Right-click the OneDrive icon > Settings > Account > Manage storage.

If you’re out of space, delete or move some files.

    1. Restart OneDrive

Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the taskbar and choose Close OneDrive.

Then open the Start menu, type OneDrive, and relaunch it.

    1. Check folder status

Right-click the OneDrive icon > Settings > Sync and backup.

Make sure “Manage backup” includes Desktop, Documents, and Pictures if needed.

Confirm no folders are accidentally excluded.

    1. Reset OneDrive

    Press Win + R, type:

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

Press Enter. Wait a minute. If the icon doesn’t reappear, press Win + R, type:

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe

    and press Enter.

    1. Check Windows settings

Go to Settings > Time & language > Date & time. Ensure “Set time automatically” and “Set time zone automatically” are on. The wrong time or region can break sync.

    1. Repair or reinstall OneDrive

Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Microsoft OneDrive > Advanced options.

Select Repair. If that fails, select Reset.

As a last resort, uninstall OneDrive, restart, and reinstall from the OneDrive download page

Let me know how it goes. I will stay with you until this is fully resolved.
