Cannot create new Wordpress App Service because of error "MySQL flexible server is not available for your selection of subscription and location."

Trying to create WordPress on App Service (Microsoft) but when trying to select a region I get the error "MySQL flexible server is not available for your selection of subscription and location." I've tried Central US, East US, and East US 2. All give the same message.

The error message "MySQL flexible server is not available for your selection of subscription and location" can sometimes occur even when the service is available in the selected region. This typically happens because of restrictions in the deployment template or subscription type.

As a workaround, you can try the following steps:

Deploy MySQL Flexible Server separately:

Instead of using the WordPress App Service QuickStart template to create the database, create a MySQL Flexible Server resource manually in your chosen region. Once it is deployed, return to the WordPress Web App creation process and select Use existing database, then provide the connection details. This often helps bypass the limitation seen with the bundled template.

Check subscription type:

Certain subscription types such as free trial, credits, or sponsorship-based subscriptions may restrict provisioning of Flexible Server through marketplace templates. If deploying manually works, that confirms the limitation is due to the template or subscription type.

Quick answer: Try West US 3 if you don't mind deploying there. Long answer below.

There is limited capacity in some regions so they restrict which subscriptions are allowed to deploy MySQL Flexible Server. When attempting to deploy MySQL Flexible Server by itself the error will usually be similar to below:

ProvisionNotSupportedForRegion Provisioning in requested region is not supported. Your subscription might not have access to create a server in the selected region.

In order to deploy to your preferred region you will need to create request (free) and it be approved.

Please carefully follow my instructions below to create a new Service and subscription limits (quotas) request to allow access to deploy Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server in your preferred region.

1. Navigate to this link to start the process:

https://portal.azure.com/#create/Microsoft.Support

2. Enter quota in the box and click Go

3. Select Others / Service and subscription limits (quotas) and click Next

4. Click Create a support request button, as shown

5. Select Issue type: Service and subscription limits (quotas), Subscription, Quota type: Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server, click Next

6. Now you should be on Additional details tab. Click Enter details

7. Select Region access or Region access with zonal dependency, select Location you need, enter number of cores needed, click Save and continue

8. Finish filling out Additional details tab, click Next, review and click Create. You should receive an automated email within a few minutes.

NOTE: It is possible that they will deny your request due to capacity limit or other reason, but at least you tried.
