I cannot for the life of me figure out how to exit microsoft words read only mode. It seems read only is selected how do I deselect it? I also selected editing still won't let me do anything. The fact that read only is the default is already ridiculous.

Your screen shot indicates that you have opened a PDF. Save a copy in Word format and then you should be able to edit the file.

Note that if the document is open in Adobe Reader (or some other PDF viewer) at the same time, close it there first.

Hi, I am an independent advisor, and welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Let me help you with this issue.

Does it apply to all Word files you open?

I noticed a yellow triangle error on your account at the top right corner of your screen.

Please try to fix it by clicking on File the go to Account, and there should be an option to Fix, or you can sign out and sign back in on Microsoft Word.
