Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management

I changed to New Outlook.
When I try to open a saved (old) Outlook message in my File Manager, it does not recognize I have a Microsoft 365 subscription and asks me to buy a new subscription.
How can my saved messages recognize my Microsoft 365 subscription and open as previously?

Hi there! I understand how confusing that feels, Fredrik. When you switch to the New Outlook, saved .MSG files sometimes don’t open because this version no longer supports opening individual Outlook message files directly. it is confirmed that .MSG files can only be opened in the Classic Outlook app for Windows, not in the New Outlook.
To open your saved messages, switch back to the Classic Outlook by going to the Outlook app, selecting the toggle for “New Outlook” to turn it off, and then reopen the .MSG files there. Make sure your Microsoft 365 subscription is active and Outlook is signed in with the same licensed account.
Best,
Arlene D.
