Hello,

I just purchased a brand new Windows 10 computer logged into my Microsoft email and let it sit for a second but when I went to go use it the computer required a password but it never asked me to set one up with the computer. I tried using the password that my email has and that is not working. There is nothing that asked if I forgot a password either nor will it let me try and sign into a different user. If

Dear Anthie,

Based on your desc, here are Recommended Steps you may refer:

  1. Confirm the Account Type It’s possible that Windows created a local account or linked your Microsoft account without completing setup. If the login screen shows your name but not your email address, it may be a local profile.
  2. Try Using PIN or Biometric Login If you enabled Windows Hello (PIN, fingerprint, or facial recognition), try selecting “Sign-in options” on the login screen to choose an alternative method.
  3. Use Safe Mode to Access the System You can restart the device and press F8 or hold Shift + Restart to enter recovery mode. From there: Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings Choose Enable Safe Mode with Networking Once in Safe Mode, attempt to log in or create a new user account.
  4. Reset the Device (If No Data Is Stored Yet) If the device is still new and no personal data has been saved, you can perform a system reset: On the login screen, hold Shift and click Restart Go to Troubleshoot > Reset this PC Choose Remove everything to start fresh
    1. Contact Microsoft Support for Account Recovery If you're unable to access the device, please visit the Microsoft Account Recovery Portal or contact Microsoft Support for direct assistance.
