Hello Mike,
Printer redirection in RDC relies on several key components beyond open ports and firewall settings. Here are a few steps to help resolve the issue:
- Verify RDC Client Settings On the client device, open the Remote Desktop Connection app and go to Show Options > Local Resources. Ensure Printers is checked under “Local devices and resources.”
- Confirm Group Policy Settings On the server, open Group Policy Editor and navigate to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Printer Redirection Ensure Do not allow client printer redirection is set to Disabled Ensure Redirect only the default client printer is set appropriately for your environment
- Check Print Spooler Service Confirm that the Print Spooler service is running on both the server and client machines.
- Review Event Logs Check Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > TerminalServices-Printers for any redirection errors.
If the issue persists, please let us know the RDC client version and printer models involved so we can provide more targeted support.
