Hi Carl,
The issue you’re experiencing where Word shows a blank screen and says “not authorized” usually points to a problem with the Office activation or a corrupted installation. When Word isn’t properly activated, it may restrict access to features like saving or editing, and the “Repair Now” option may not work if the underlying issue isn’t resolved.
Here’s I want you to try:
Run an Online Repair Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, find Microsoft 365 or Office, click Modify, and choose Online Repair. This deeper repair replaces damaged files and checks your license status.
Check Activation Status Open Word or another Office app, go to File > Account, and check if it says Product Activated. If not, sign in with the Microsoft account linked to your subscription.
Try Safe Mode Press Win + R, type winword /safe, and press Enter. If Word opens in Safe Mode, the issue may be caused by a faulty add-in or user profile.
Update Office and Windows Make sure your system is up to date. In Word, go to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now. Also check Settings > Windows Update for any pending updates.
Let me know how it goes, Happy to help!
