Does MDT support Azure SQL as database

I am planning to use Azure SQL database or Azure managed SQL instances for the purpose of MDT.
I know SQL Express is sufficient but want to know the support for Azure SQL databases for MDT.

Can someone please confirm If we can use Azure SQL for MDT?

    If you are talking about Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), the answer is no, Azure SQL Database or Azure Managed Instance cannot be configured as MDT Database. You can only use SQL Server Express or the full SQL Server as the supported scenarios.

    The documentation states that SQL Server 2012 SP1 Express Service Pack is installed by default.
