Why did Microsoft delete a lot of my files when I canceled Microsoft 365 Basic? I purchased Microsoft 365 Basic and then a lot of my documents and files got deleted.

You get a grace period in which you can remove your files from OneDrive:

Quoting the article: Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription - Microsoft Support

"After 6 months, we may delete your OneDrive and all files within it."

That means the entire OneDrive with nothing left!
