I was able to resolve this issue by adding a birthdate to my Microsoft account (it was already an adult administrator account.) Good luck.
Issue Enrolling in Extended Security Updates: “Need an Adult Account” Error
Hello Microsoft Support,
I’m trying to enroll my Windows 10 device for Extended Security Updates (ESU) before upgrading to Windows 11. My device is eligible for Windows 11, but I’d like to extend Windows 10 support first. However, every time I try to enroll, I receive a message saying: “Use another account to enroll in Extended Security Updates. An adult needs to sign in to this device and enroll.”
The issue is that my account is already an adult account (18 years or older), so I’m not sure why it’s showing this message. I also tried clicking the “Get Help” link that appears with the message, but it seems to be inactive or closed.
Could you please help me resolve this issue or provide guidance on how to complete the enrollment for Extended Security Updates?
Thanks.

That “Need an Adult Account” error usually happens when your Microsoft account is part of a Family group and flagged as a child or teen even if your birthdate shows you're 18+.
First, check account.microsoft.com/family to see if you're in a family group. If so, either leave the group or ask the organizer to change your role to “adult.”
Second, if that doesn’t work, try enrolling with a new Microsoft account that’s not linked to any family group and has a verified adult birthdate.
Lastly, make sure you're signed in with a full Microsoft account (not a local one) under Settings > Accounts > Your Info.
Let us know if you need help with any of these steps!
