After selecting various modes in Compatible tab application crashes after loading. Compatibility Troubleshooters did not help.

It is a greeting card program. Once I load an existing file or attempt to create a new one, the app crashes. Errorlog shows problem is with application.exe and framework.dll

    Hi @Bonnie Wieczorek,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A Forum.

Based on the crash information, the file that is failing is Framework.dll which belongs to the greeting card application itself. In my understanding, this type of Broderbund software was originally written for much older versions of Windows (XP / Windows 7 era), and a number of components they rely on are no longer natively supported in Windows 10/11.

I understand this is not an ideal situation, but this behavior is related to how the application was built, rather than a Windows error. This is why Compatibility Mode and the Troubleshooter do not resolve the issue, the crash is occurring inside the application’s own framework, not because of incompatibility settings

In most cases, the stable approach solution is to install and run it inside a Windows 7 virtual machine (for example Hyper-V or VirtualBox), where the required legacy components still exist.

Thank you for your patience while reviewing this. If you have any further questions or concern, please don't hesitate to let me know.
