I relocated from the UK to India at the start of the month. I tried to buy Battlefield 6 when it came out on Xbox, and was immediately shown an error that I am trying to access the game from a different location.
I have a valid and existing address, as well as a payment method in India. My game pass subscription has also gone through for this month. After reaching out to Xbox support, I was told that it is due to the Rewards account still being locked to GB, which is creating the conflict. The Xbox support asked me to get in touch with rewards through the subscription form and ask them to help migrate the account to India permanently. Now, this is where the harassment begins.
Out of the 10 separate requests raised to them:
1 person asked me for a screenshot of my location (then promptly ghosted me without a response)
Other 9 responses have been a mix of patronising autoamted responses, which are not limited to: accusing me of illegally accessing rewards from a different location, asking me to not use a VPN to unethically collect points, asking me to change my country to India in microsoft account (If i didnt, i wouldnt be able to add valid billing and payment, & the account is already set to India)
I am honestly very frustrated at this point. There is absolutely no resolution to hearing the same patronising comments that I should not use a VPN.
Everywhere I've checked, including on rewards, my country is set to India and the language to English UK. On top of the dashboard, there is a banner that says that I'm travelling, so I'll continue to see rewards from the UK. Last thing to add here, I am not even in the program as I opted out.
Is there any scope for resolution, or is creating a new account to play games the only option? I am tired and have given up. 26 days of constant back and forth and 0 help, while Microsoft continues to be happy charging my CC for the dub Xbox Game Pass subscription.
