DLP Activity explorer was showing Browsing activities for all users and suddenly it stopped. All users have the purview extension on their browsers and are linked to Intune and onboarded on Purview.

I also had to create a ticket for Microsoft to look into this. The product team has said the feature has been removed from Purview and notice wasn't given because its not a breaking change Copy of the email below

After reviewing the issue in depth, I’d like to sincerely apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience this may have caused. There is no Message Center ID announcing a deprecation or removal of the browseToUrl activity, because Microsoft has not classified this as a breaking change.   What has happened instead is a silent signal consolidation along with user‑experience changes in Activity Explorer. As part of this transition, the browseToUrl activity is no longer surfaced explicitly for many tenants. This means the data is still captured through broader browser‑signal categories, but the specific activity label no longer appears in the interface.

    Hi Rajat Olhan
    Thanks for sharing the details.

This usually happens when the BrowseToURL signal stops reporting from the endpoint or browser extension. A few quick checks you can try:

Make sure the Purview browser extension is still active and signed in with the same work account on all user browsers.

    • Confirm the devices are still onboarded to Purview via Intune or MDE - sometimes a recent change in onboarding or device policy can cause this signal to drop.
    • Open Activity Explorer and check the filters - make sure Browse to URL is selected, as it can sometimes be hidden after updates.

On any affected device, open Edge and go to edge://policy to see if the Purview policies are still applied.

If everything looks correct and the signal still doesn’t show up, it’s worth raising a support case with Microsoft Security - they can check if there’s a data collection delay or a backend issue affecting your tenant.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
