Hello Robert Lamers, thanks for posting this in our community.
Error 0x800f0983 typically points to a Component-Based Servicing (CBS) issue, which is often caused by corrupted system files or broken update dependencies.
To begin troubleshooting, open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following commands one by one:
- sfc /scannow
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
After that, try the update again by going to Settings > Windows Update and clicking Retry. If it fails again, pause updates, wait about 10 seconds, then unpause and retry.
You can also run the Windows Update troubleshooter by going to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, then selecting Windows Update.
Kind regards,
John Oli
