Excel is running into an error that's preventing it from working properly. I've clicked on "repair now" but it doesn't seem to correct itself. I've also tried closing it. What should I do now?

    Hi,

I’m really sorry about the issue you’re running into, Ann. You can try this: first, completely close Excel through Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, selecting Task Manager, choosing Excel, and ending the task. Then restart your computer. After restarting, open Excel in Safe Mode by holding Ctrl while launching it, this helps disable add-ins that might be causing the error. If it opens correctly, go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable any third-party add-ins. Next, try repairing Office again through Control Panel > Programs and Features > Microsoft Office > Change > Quick Repair, or choose Online Repair if the quick one doesn’t work. If it still fails, check for any pending Windows or Office updates.

Just to better understand, does this happen with all Excel files or only specific ones?

    kind regards,
