n Microsoft Excel, when you highlight a range of cells containing numbers, the status bar (bottom-right corner of the window) automatically shows summary values such as:

Average

Count

Numerical Count

Min / Max

Sum

Normally, you can right-click the status bar and toggle which summaries to display. In recent Excel versions (Excel 365, 2021, 2019), you can click directly on one of those summary values (like “Sum: 1500”) to copy it to the clipboard — this is a convenient shortcut.

    Hi Shahed,

The ability to click on a summary value (like Sum: 1500) in the Excel status bar to copy it to the clipboard is a feature available in newer versions of Excel (Excel 2019 and Microsoft 365). Unfortunately, this functionality is not available in Excel 2016.

In Excel 2016, you can still:

    • View summaries such as Average, Count, Sum, Min, Max on the status bar.
    • Customize which summaries appear by right-clicking the status bar.

Check this guide View summary data on the status bar

If you need the click-to-copy feature, upgrading to a newer version of Excel is the easiest solution. Alternatively, you can use AutoSum or a quick formula in a cell to get and copy the value.
