Hey,
I totally get how annoying it is to start your laptop and find the keyboard not working until you restart, that’s definitely not how things should go.
What’s likely happening here is that the recent Windows 11 update from October introduced a glitch that affects how the keyboard driver loads during the first boot, especially when Fast Startup is enabled.
It’s a known issue that’s been popping up for a lot of users, particularly on Lenovo laptops like your Slim 7i.
A quick fix that’s helped many is turning off Fast Startup: just go to Control Panel then go to Power Options then click Choose what the power buttons do then Change settings that are currently unavailable, then uncheck “Turn on fast startup” and save.
After that, restart your laptop and see if the keyboard works right away.
If it does, that’s likely the culprit. If not, we can try updating or reinstalling the keyboard driver next.
Just to help narrow it down, does this happen every time you power on, or only after certain updates?
And are you using any external keyboards or just the built-in one?
Regards, Aron
