Windows 10 progressively breaking

Hello,

Some months ago my windows 10 machine stopped being able to open image files from the file browser as apparently the native image viewer had broken. This wasn't a major deal because I could open them in other programs and didn't impact me too much.

I have now in the last week had all of my integrated apps such as outlook (Which stopped opening the new version forcing me onto classic some months ago also) and onedrive have now signed me out entirely. When I attempt to log back in I receive a generic error code 7q6ca or 1067 both of which I have attempted to search and remedy to no avail.

My computer has been ineligible to upgrade to windows 11 (Despite the frustrating full screen advertisements being forced upon me multiple times) and I am financially not in a position to build a new work rig at this time.

How can I remedy this issue?

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

The error code you've listed is not a recognized one. When researching it I have noticed that others who've gotten the error have needed to contact support via https://support.microsoft.com and clicking on Contact Us. From what I've read they've been able to fix the issue remotely for you.

It sounds like you are experiencing multiple issues with your Windows 10 machine, particularly with integrated apps and the native image viewer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve these issues:

    1. Repair or Reset Apps: For apps like Outlook and OneDrive, you can try repairing or resetting them. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find the app, click on it, and select Advanced options. From there, you can choose to repair or reset the app.
    2. Reinstall Apps: If repairing doesn't work, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the problematic apps. You can do this from the same Apps & features menu.
    3. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows 10 is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Installing the latest updates can sometimes resolve app issues.
    4. Create a New User Account: Sometimes, user profiles can become corrupted. You can test this by creating a new user account and seeing if the issues persist there. If the new account works fine, you may need to migrate your data to the new account.
    5. Use the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter for apps. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, and run the troubleshooter for Windows Store Apps.
    6. Check Event Viewer: For the error codes you mentioned (7q6ca or 1067), you can check the Event Viewer for more details. Search for "Event Viewer" in the Start menu, and look under Windows Logs > Application for any related errors that might give you more insight into the problem.
    7. System File Checker: Run the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. Open a command prompt as an administrator and run the command sfc /scannow.
    8. Consider a System Restore: If the issues started recently, you might consider performing a system restore to a point before the problems began. This can be done through Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.

If these steps do not resolve your issues, you may need to consider more advanced troubleshooting or contacting Microsoft support for further assistance.
