Can no longer connect to a shared printer on a Windows 11 PRO computer. I always receive a message that the User Name or Password is incorrect. But it isn't incorrect and this has worked for a year. How do I fix this?

Hi, thanks for posting here in Microsoft community, it sounds like a network authentication issue rather than incorrect credentials. This can happen if Windows updates or network settings changed.

I suggest, First, Ensure Password Protected Sharing is enabled in Network and Sharing Center.

Then, Verify the user account exists on the host PC and has permission for printer sharing.

Also, try accessing the shared printer using the format, \ComputerName\PrinterName and credentials of the host PC.

If recent updates were installed, check if SMB protocol settings or network profile changed.

Also, have you recently installed any Windows updates or changed network settings on either PC? This will help isolate if the issue is update-related or configuration-based.

I hope this helps you, let me know how it goes.

    Hello,

I’m now experiencing the exact same issue this morning — users on other PCs can no longer print to the shared printer on my Windows 11 Pro machine. The only change I made was installing updates KB5071066 and KB5068861 yesterday.

Until now everything worked fine for over a year without changing credentials. It really does look like a network-authentication or sharing problem triggered by the updates.

Thanks for the pointer about checking “Password Protected Sharing” and verifying the host’s user account permissions — I’ll start there and report back how it goes.

    Regards,

issue i think its related to new update windows Kerberos and NTLM authentication failures due to duplicate SIDs https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kerberos-and-ntlm-authentication-failures-due-to-duplicate-sids-76f7394d-c460-4882-9ed1-d27e0960f949
