How to Fix Previous Session Issues

Whenever Windows does an update my tabs close and the previous session is wiped clean which means I can't pick up where I left off. On the other hand, when I restart or shut down the computer, I'm able to do that. I just changed the settings to open tab from previous settings, but will that work after an update?

    Hi,

You can try this by adjusting your Windows Update settings so updates only install when you approve them, which helps avoid those unexpected restarts that clear your tabs. You can open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options and turn off automatic updates if your version allows it, set Windows to notify you before restarting, pause updates when needed, or set active hours so the system avoids rebooting during your usual work time.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,

Besides enabling "Continue where you left off," you can prevent losing tabs after updates by signing into Edge with your Microsoft account to sync open tabs across devices, using an extension like Session Buddy to save and restore sessions automatically, regularly saving important tabs to Collections or bookmarks as a backup, and closing Edge manually before running Windows updates so the browser can properly save your session.

    Hope that this helps.

    Kind regards,

To address the issue of losing your tabs after a Windows update, it's important to note that Microsoft Edge has a feature that allows you to pick up your browsing where you left off. You can enable this feature by going to edge://settings/onStartup and turning on the Continue where you left off setting. This should help restore your tabs after a restart or shutdown.

However, it's worth mentioning that Windows updates can sometimes cause unexpected behavior, and there is no guarantee that this setting will persist through every update. If you continue to experience issues, you may need to manually restore your tabs or check if there are any updates to Edge that address this behavior.
