    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Can you recall when was the last time that the laptop worked without any issue? Are there any activities that might triggered this event to your laptop that you can recall like an update, installation of application, hardware change before this happened?

It sounds like you are experiencing a black screen issue after logging into your Asus A17 gaming laptop. This can happen for several reasons, including problems with the graphics driver or issues with the shell configuration. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Reset the Graphics Driver: Try resetting the graphics driver by pressing the Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B. This can sometimes resolve display issues.
    2. Check Shell Configuration: Ensure that the shell configuration is correct. You can do this by:
      • Pressing the Windows logo key + R, typing regedit, and pressing Enter to open the Registry Editor.
      • Navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon and checking the Shell value data. It should be set to explorer.exe. If it is not, change it to explorer.exe and ensure the permissions are correct.
    3. Perform a Clean Boot: If the issue persists, consider performing a clean boot to determine if a startup application or service is causing the problem. This can help isolate the issue.
    4. Check for Event Viewer Logs: You can also check the Event Viewer for any logs that may indicate what is causing the black screen. Look for "Event ID 1000" in the Application log, which indicates that an application has stopped responding.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to contact Asus support or consider further diagnostics.
