After last windows update and Lenovo's driver update my touchpad is not working. I also tried to fix it from device manager, but touchpad driver is not shown there and all touchpad settings has also been missing since the last update.

Hi, thank you for that information. In that case, please download and install the touchpad driver from your manufacturer's website. If the issue persists, please proceed doing the system restore.

I see in device manager that there is an I2C HID Device and in its properties it is showing that this device cannot start (code 10) a request for the HID descriptor failed.

Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

Based on your inputs, it seems that there is a miscalibration with the touchpad driver, or there is a hardware-related issue, as it is intermittently missing. To sort out the issue, I recommend rolling back the touchpad driver, and if the issue persists, I suggest downloading and installing the BIOS and Chipset update from your manufacturer's website to ensure that there is no miscalibration.

-Press the Windows key + X

    -Go to Device Manager

-Click View > Click Show hidden devices

-Expand the Mice and other pointing devices or Human Interface Devices (HID)

    -Look for your touchpad driver

    -Right-click and click Update Driver

-Select Browse my computer for drivers

-Click Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer

-Choose an old driver or another driver name, then select it and hit next until it installs.

    -Restart the PC and check.

If the issue persists, I suggest doing a system restore, wherein it will restore the PC, when it was working properly. To do that, kindly follow the steps below:

Press the Windows key + R, then type in:

    rstrui

    Then hit OK.

Follow the prompts and select the time and date when the PC is working fine.

Follow the prompts again until it restores.

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your touchpad after a Windows and driver update. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Device Manager: Even though you mentioned that the touchpad driver is not shown, ensure that you have expanded all categories in Device Manager. Look under "Mice and other pointing devices" or "Human Interface Devices" to see if the touchpad is listed there.
    2. Update Drivers: Go to the Lenovo support website and check for the latest touchpad drivers for your specific model. Download and install them manually if they are available.
    3. Reinstall Drivers: If the touchpad driver is listed in Device Manager, right-click on it and choose "Uninstall device". Then restart your computer, and Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.
    4. Check Windows Update: Sometimes, subsequent updates can fix issues caused by previous ones. Check for any pending updates in Windows Update.
    5. Registry Check: If you are comfortable with it, you can check the registry settings for the touchpad to ensure they haven't been altered. Be cautious and back up the registry before making any changes.
    6. Hardware Check: If none of the above steps work, it might be worth checking if the touchpad is physically disabled (some laptops have a function key for this) or if there is a hardware issue.

If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Lenovo support for further assistance.
