If your D drive is encrypted with BitLocker and you cannot find the recovery key, there are a few steps you can take:
- Check for Recovery Key Storage: The recovery key may have been saved to a USB drive, printed out, or stored in your Microsoft account or Active Directory. If you have access to Microsoft Entra ID, you can retrieve the recovery key by visiting
https://myaccount.microsoft.com, selecting your device, and viewing the BitLocker keys. - Use Helpdesk Recovery: If your organization uses a helpdesk recovery process, you can contact your IT support team. They may be able to retrieve the recovery key for you using the administration and monitoring website.
- Recovery Process: If you have access to the administration and monitoring website, you can enter the first eight digits of the recovery key ID to see possible matching recovery keys. If you have the entire recovery key ID, entering that will provide the exact recovery key.
- Data Recovery Agents: If your device is configured with Data Recovery Agents (DRA), the helpdesk can use the DRA to unlock the drive, provided they have the necessary certificates.
If none of these options work, unfortunately, you may not be able to access the data on the D drive without the recovery key.
