If you are unable to open Microsoft Edge even after restoring a backup, and it only worked temporarily, you might be experiencing a known issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Clear User Data: Sometimes, corrupted user data can cause issues. You can try clearing the user data by navigating to %AppData%\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Sync Data\ and deleting the contents. This may help in resolving the issue.
    2. Recreate User Profile: If clearing the user data does not work, consider deleting and recreating your user profile. This can often resolve persistent issues with the browser.
    3. Check for Updates: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Microsoft Edge. Sometimes, issues are resolved in newer releases.
    4. Rollback to Previous Version: If the issue started after a recent update, rolling back to a previous version of Microsoft Edge might help. You can revert to a version that was stable for you before the issue began.
    5. Reinstall Microsoft Edge: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling Microsoft Edge to ensure that all files are intact and not corrupted.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, you may want to check the Microsoft Edge known issues page for any updates or additional workarounds.

    Hi, good day!

    • When was the last time it worked properly?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

Please try this if it helps.

Press Windows key+R to open Run then type:

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\

Make a backup of the User Data folder and save it on another location

After that delete the said folder on the path above

Please check if this fixes the issue.

I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed by clicking "Add comment" below.
