Hello,

We are heavily dependent on external content type. Currently BCS options available in hidden feature. Is there mean Microsoft going to depreciate this service? Should I use any other PowerApps options to connect external content type? Please advise on recommended way to setup an external content type in SPO.

So far I tried to import .bdcm from service application interface and it was successful. I also added "Enable Profile Page Creation Host SharePoint site URL" however when I go to tanent application, external content type itself is not available.

I then tried with SharePoint Designer 2013 and I get the following error:
Always it shows the error:
134297-image.png

If I click "External content type" button on the designer, it throws the following error:
134319-image.png

Please advise on how to enable/configure the BCS for external content type.

    Hi @Shri-6058 ,

You could create an External List by using Business Connectivity Services (BCS) and Secure Store to access data from a Microsoft SQL Azure database. BCS connects SharePoint solutions to external data, and Secure Store enables user authentication for the data.

    1.Create a Business Connectivity Service
SharePoint admin center > Active sites page > More features > BCS > Manage connections to online services
2.Create a Secure Store Service ID
SharePoint admin center > Active sites page > More features > Secure store > New
    3.Create the External Content Type
SharePoint designer 2013 > External Content Type > Add Connection
    4.Adding external list

You could get more details from the following link. It is a article describes how to configure the SharePoint Online Integration with Azure SQL Server step by step. Hope it will help you. Office 365 SharePoint Online BCS with Azure SQL Server Database

    Hi,
Did you find resolution to this question?
I have similar case. Only difference is I have hosted WCF services in Azure App Service. And applied authentication on the service with Microsoft identity provider.
Then I created target application id in secure store service, which I am hoping to use in BCS connection in SPD 2013. But there I get error "Username must be qualified with a domain(that is DOMAIN\user)".
I am using my M365 account credentials 'onmicrosoft.com'.

@CaseyYang-MSFT can you give some clue if I am missing something?
